Our outreach team consists of 5 individuals with extensive knowledge of the resources that are available to aid homeless adults.  Outreach workers at GCNSSC meet people where they are — on the street or in the drop-in center.

Homeless outreach begins with an offer of basic assistance that includes food, a shower, a bed, short-term treatment for addiction, and primary medical care. Outreach workers then expand their assistance to include health care, education, vocational training, and housing.

Part of our mission is to help clients expand their own resources, aiding them in building networks and skills to achieve their goals.  We provide clients with models for success in the form of our outreach workers, some of whom were once homeless themselves. When GCNSSC was founded, over half of our staff was formerly homeless; and to this day, we proudly continue to employ formerly homeless individuals in our staff.

Our outreach workers make daily rounds in the Grand Central Neighborhood.  They travel on foot and by van from Fifth Avenue to the East River and from 57th Street to 23rd Street. Our catchment area encompasses the Grand Central Partnership BID, UNDC plaza, and other public spaces.

If you are interested in learning more about what our outreach team can offer you, or if you have questions, please contact our Director of Outreach at 212-883-0680.
