Social Services are at the heart of our organization because it is here that clients begin to examine their lives.

Many clients who come to Mainchance seek relief from the overwhelming sense of hopelessness that their struggle with homelessness has created.  Client Case Management services help clients develop a plan for becoming and remaining self-reliant.

Our case managers work with a diverse group of clients, including formerly incarcerated individuals, veterans, special-needs populations and senior citizens.  All clients go through a similar set of steps, allowing us to gather enough information to help them on their way.

We first become acquainted with clients by going through an intake session, which is a meeting that allows us to obtain vital information that will become important for housing.  If it seems appropriate, we give clients the option of going to another facility that would better serve their needs. For example, clients with acute medical problems may elect to move to a shelter where they will receive more extensive medical treatment.

For those clients that choose to stay with us, we try to identify factors that caused the client to become homeless.  Working closely throughout the case management process, the client and case manager evaluate how best to overcome barriers to independent living. If those barriers include substance abuse, we can guide them to a Detox program. The ultimate goal for every client is housing.
